Welcome to MFers.net

We are happy to have you and welcome your inclusion into our tight-knit family of gamers. Currently we are playing a handful of different MMOs but the three with the largest concentration of our players are Star Trek Online, Champions Online, and The Lord of the Rings Online. If you would like to join us by becoming a part of one or more of our groups (Fleet MEGA Force, MEGAFORCE, and Narn en Uidirith respectively), then read on and lets make that happen!
Getting Started
The very first thing you should do is create an account on the site if you don’t already have one.
The form is is fairly brief. You will enter a username, email address, and select a password. After that, you will choose a handle, indicate whether or not you are over 18, and select which games you play or are interested in playing.
An Important note on Usernames and Handles
Please keep in mind that your username will be publicly visible and will allow people to refer to you easily in posts. For that reason, it’s probably a good idea to start off making your handle the same as your username until people get to know you better.
As soon as you’ve submitted the form, the confirmation page will prompt you to upload a new avatar. You can always do that later. For now, use the form on the right side of the screen to log in with your new username and password.
Fill out your Applications!
The first thing you should do as a new member is fill out your application(s) for whichever group(s) you were interested in joining. You do that by editing your profile. Now that you’ve logged in, you should see a new semi-transparent black menu bar at the top of the screen. The quickest way to your profile edit page is to use that menu bar, select “My Account” -> “Profile” -> “Edit Profile” to take you directly there. If that’s not working for you, or you prefer to take the long way around, you can click on your username one the right where the login form had previously been, then click on “Profile” in the middle of the page, and “Edit Profile” when it appears below that. Here are a couple screenshots to further illustrate these two paths.
You should see buttons for each of our most active groups. Click on each button and fill out each form for each group you wish to join. Technically what you are doing is simply augmenting your profile with information pertinent to each group. This is especially imperative if we don’t know who you are, but may prove equally important for every member in the long run. We will be encouraging all members to do the same.
Now that you have your profile flushed out, it is time to start interacting.
Make Friends!
Were you recruited or referred by someone? Did you know one of us in a previous game? The single quickest way to get accepted into any one of our groups is to know someone. If this is you, then the first thing you should do is go to the “Members” tab, find them, and click the button to request friendship. They will be notified of your friendship request and should be able to extend an invite to the group you are looking to join.
Join Public!
The “Public” group is open to every registered member, and that means you! To join it, just click on the “Groups” tab, find the listing for “Public”, and click on the “Join Group” button. Alternatively, you can go directly to the public group page by clicking here. The button to join should be right smack in the middle of your page. Once you have done that, you can start mingling with folks and showing them how friendly and active you are.
But Wait, There’s More!
From the Groups Page you can request membership to any one of the groups you see, but if you haven’t filled out the relevant parts of your profile you can expect to be summarily rejected. No hard feelings, we welcome you to try again as soon as you have done your part in telling us who you are. Still though, if you don’t have a friend in the group, this is the way you will want to go so that it brings the attention of the group administrators to your profile. They will likely contact you (on the site, or in the game) to set up an in-game interview or play session.
I think that pretty much wraps up the basics of getting started on our site, and with our people. We are excited at the opportunity to get to know you, and look forward to losing loot rolls to you in the future!

I’ve had to implement a rudimentary captcha system on the user registration page. I hope to have a more user friendly one soon but if you have any problems registering because of it then please send an email to ring at this domain and I’ll get it sorted. Thanks!
